Event requirements

This event requires special approval to participate.  If you are not sure of your qualifications, please contact atlflagchief@hotmail.com.

It's time for the 27th Annual Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, October 9 -  Oct. 12, 2024.  Atlanta Region SCCA is again organizing the volunteer staff for event support. As in the past, we will provide refreshments throughout the event including lunch each day and dinner during night practice, the "Night Before" dinner, and dinner during the race. We also plan to have coffee in the morning at the SCCA compound.

On-site camping will be available for both tents and RVs. We will have a designated campground; probably down behind Turn1, but that could change. It's unlikely there will be  power available.

Online registration at Petit Registration is required and must be completed prior to the registration deadline of Tuesday, October 1st at 5:00 pm Eastern Time. Because we are required to submit our list of volunteers to the event organizers in advance, we cannot accept late entries.

Each volunteer is entitled to an additional pass for a guest.  At the request of the organizers, we must insist that the guest name is entered in your event registration prior to the close of online registration.  We cannot make changes to the guest name or add a guest to your registration after the registration deadline.

On-site Registration Check In – This will begin on Tuesday afternoon, October 8th from 5 to 8PM. Check in should be at the old registration trailer (located about 200 yards past the Will Call building). We usually have a large white tent in front of the trailer.  (Enter at Gate #1, look to your right to the right end of the main Registration building.) We will have a feather flag to identify it as Atlanta Region Registration.

It is prudent that we maintain our requirements for participation in this prestigious event to provide the best service possible for the International Motor Sports Association and its competitors. This is a four-day event; we hope that all volunteers can be available for the duration, but we do remain a bit flexible on how many days you are able to attend.

Corner Marshals - We will give first preference to SCCA members who hold a National or Divisional level Flagging and Communication license. SCCA members with a Regional level Flagging and Communication license will be considered with recommendation from your region's Flag Chief. Non-licensed flaggers who are familiar with and have experience at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta will be considered on a case by case basis; please contact us via the registration page.

Grid Marshals - There is a very limited number of spaces available for Grid Marshals, the requirements are similar - SCCA members who hold a National or Divisional level Grid license, or Regional license with recommendation from your region's Grid Chief.

Race Administration - this includes Registration, Safety Steward, Radio Tech, and Refreshment/Food Coordinators. These are support positions and except for Safety Steward, no license is required. However, we will give preference to those who have filled this role in past events and SCCA members who wish to experience the working side of a high-level professional race event for the first time.

Thank you from the team!

Clark McInnis, Race Chairman – Atlanta Region
Jeff Banker, Co-Chief of Flagging and Communication
